Surgical Treatment of Cervical Tuberculous Lymphadenitis

Abstract
|
|
|
A retrospective clinical analysis of 167 patients with cervical tuberculous lymphadenitis, which were confirmed histologically and bacteriologically by operative biopsy during past 5-years from january 1986 to December 1990 at Presbyterian
Medical
Center, were reviewed.
@ES The results were as follows;
@EN 1) Most prevalent age group was late third decade, and 3.4 times more frequent in female than male.
2) there was more common in multiple lesions (67.7%) than single lesion.
3) Most frequent location of the lesion was posterior cervical triangle(65.1%).
4) Pathophysiology of the cervical tuberculous lymphadeitis was directed infection of the Tuberculous Mycobacterium on the upper respiratory tract.
5) Adequately surgical excision and proper chemotherapy were necessary for reducing recurrence than simple drainage.
6) Proper timing of the surgical approach, before formation of cold abscess sand fistular tract, was important for reducing complication.
